This is a screenshot from an early simulation of a disk inside of an AGB star, A theoretical origin of High Field Magnetic White Dwarfs. This particular simulation was used to gauge if the adaptive mesh was refining properly.
In the simulation above, we found that these disks can persist on timescales long enough to generate and impart a magnetic field onto the degenerate core.
We are investigating whether or not an accretion disk could form around the core of an AGB star from the tidal disruption of a large planet or M-dwarf. This is some early work.
R Sculptoris is a nearby AGB variable star. This image, provided by ALMA, reveals a unique spiral structure. It is theorized that this structure is the result of a secondary shepherding the mass outflow of the AGB star.
An early simulation of a binary star system whose initial conditions are inferred from R Sculptoris. The goal of these simulations is to compare final morphologies given initial mass ratios in order to infer the mass of the secondary.
This is a screenshot from a collaborative, extracurricular project using Python for a 2D shooter game. I manage the physics engine and the map editor.
